Duplicate Database Safely

This module becomes handy when duplicating databases for testing purposes. You can copy the data without copying information such as "incoming/outgoing mail server settings" and "active crons". By duplicating the database this way, the new database will not contain information or settings that could interfere the original environment.

Duplicate database safely without interfering critical data and processes of the original environment.

CONFIGURATION [back]

Define actions in production database, that have to be executed when duplicating production for the purposes of creating a testing database.

• (A) Define test database configurations that can be disabled or enabled using the archiving functionality of standard Odoo.

• (B) For each configuration, define transactions that will be executed on the duplicated test database.

• (C) Backend wizard for manually executing a selection of configurations, with safety checks that prevent accidental execution on production database.

Duplicate database safely:

• (A) In standard Odoo the "Duplicate" contains only settings for database names
• (B) This module adds the shown selection:
  • ("for testing"): after the database is duplicated, execute configured the test database transactions that make the new duplicated database suitable for testing.
  • ("for production"): normal database duplication, do not execute the test database configurations.
